Kicker solo problem please help!

Hey I have 2 kicker S12L7 subs the older ones with the silver cones. They both play, but it didnt sound right. So I pulled the subs out of the box and found that the tan surround under the cone was ripped. I can post a pic if you like. Is there anyway to fix it? Or just get a new one. Also I had them in a sealed box and then went with the SPL ported ones and the problem happened. Im only running a XS100 amp on them so I dont think they were over powered.

You mean the spider is ripped. Exactly where, is it just coming unglued or is there an actual rip? If its just coming unglued glue it down with some epoxy. If you want to post pics, go for it, everyone loves them.

its ripped about halfway around or a bit less and its in the middle. I thought it was a odd place for it to rip and I had never seen it do that before.

Eeh, thats not good at all. You could try some silicone, dunno how well it would hold though. You will need to find something that is strong yet flexible to glue it.

yea thats what I was thinking. I didnt know if I could cover the entire part in some sort of vinyl or something to hold it together and it still flex. Can that be replaced or no? I havent tried to call kicker and see what they say yet.

Vinyl wont help. Yes it can be replaced but would require a full recone to do so. If you call kicker they are going to tell you it will need a recone. Do you have a warranty on the sub?

Hmmm. good idea I guess its worth a shot. do you think I should put something in there that flexes to kinda brace it?

kicker doesn't recone either...they just send you a whole new sub. minus the Solo X's...

Ok I havent put anything on it yet im waiting on the car to be finished first before I put them back in. Im going to see what kicker says if they can help or not. I hope they can either fix it or something. I dont want the new ones I think they look like ***

you can upgrade to the new or get another 2002/2003 model, and a one year warranty, provided by us...

How much are they? I have the silver cones, and I think the new ones look like crap IMO
