Kicker Setup

Hey all, I've got a few general questions about a system I'm putting together. I've got a 12" Kicker L5 in a sealed box sitting around, which is not providing near enough volume. I just bought a new car and I was going to build a box to fit it. This got me thinking and I realize I need some guidance. So my questions are 1) For this sub, what would be the optimal amp to power it and 2) Should I go with a ported or sealed box (I realize sealed provides tighter bass, but I wasn't sure if anyone had good/bad experiences with either).

Also I've heard good things about L3/5/7 10" subs as well. How big of gains could I expect from going with a 2 10" sub setup?

stick with the l5, give it about 750 watts rms, and have @pro\-rabbit design you a ported box.

the kicker's really can't handle their rated RMS. i'd suggest getting a kickerzx750 if your sticking with the one Kicker L5

Personally, i would give it 600-700 watts RMS. and no more.

ah. yeah, i would give it 700, you won't notice a difference. and its always safer to underpower it.

Its gunna need a pretty big box though... I would just sell it and get something nicer anyways lol

Sell it on craigslist. You can probably get 150-200 for it cause people on CL typically buy that stuff because of the name. Then look on here and get a new sub. You can find them on here in the same price range that will sound better and get louder with better build quality.
