the little kicker mountable bass adjustment how exactly do you use that

i set my gains then hooked it up and it makes the bass not at loud unless i turn the knob all the way up

what i am wanting to do is to be able to turn the bass up on certain songs that dont hit as hard

the kicker bass knob is a gain adjustment knob that only makes the gain lower. set your gain as high as it can go without clipping, and then use the bass knob to lower the gain when u want less bass. when the bass knob is all the way up is the only time it will match your gain setting on the amp. in other words u cant use the bass knob the way ud like to.

Do the Memphis base knobs work the same way?

Wrong. Not with Kicker, maybe Proflie.

Actually he is absolutely right! Kicker uses a remote gain attenuator, which will lower the gain from its set point on amp, remotely. The remote is always mislabeled as a bass knob which is incorrect. Bass is actually controlled on the amp itself, totally separate control. You adjust the BB to your taste on the amp and when you turn the remote up it introduces a single band peak usually around 40hz and also usually with a 12db/octave slope. The slope controls how much the frequencies surrounding the 40hz center is affected, and how fast it rolls off. It is ok to use the remote to control the gain but IMHO adding bass boost is not a good idea. Best think to do is unplug the remote, properly adjust your gains make sure bass boost on amp is zero! Shut down the amp, turn remote knob all the way to left and plug it in. Go ahead and power up and turn knob to center, adjust according to your taste. Most of the new amps work this way, some of the old school amps just introduced the bass boost, hence the name bass knob... Polo.

I meant you were wrong saying it was Remote gain. You set your gain and the knob will let you lower and raise it to a certain extent but its not a gain knob. Your amp gain is set and the knob wont (shouldnt) let you exceed you amps gain setting. Basically you can lower your gain not raise it from the knob.

EDIT: I should add when I set my gains I put the "Bass knob" all the way up, then set my gains, and during normal listening my knob is only about a quarter of the way up. This works well for me. If I want more bass I turn it up some and I know Im still safe since my knob all the way up would be correct gain setting.
