im broke and need a 2 channel amp that can do like 80-120@4, so im looking at refurbs. are kicker refurbs reliable? will there be an audible difference between one of these or a new profile or ma audio amp? is there anyone with experience with factory refurbished amps?

If Polecat says it's a legit product then certainly it can be trusted (since he, above all the rest of us, would be in the know on such things)

To the OP: Just be aware that as I read that ad it says it benched @ 231 watts. I read that to mean it will do 115 +/- X 2 @ 2 Ohms and consequently 62 or 63 X 2 @ 4 Ohms.

I'm fairly certain that you'd not hear the difference between 63 and 80 watts but I just wanted to throw that in there as an //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

yes, that guy is legit, and backed.....I'd fully trust that guy, and yes, they are tested the same as all other amps we have, and hifisoundconnection is also another guy, on Ebay, that I'd trust...but that ones seems like a great deal!
what do you mean when you say backed? because there are alot of refurbs on ebay that come with 90 day warranties, but i dont see any thing like that advertised on the page.

i'd stay away from ebay refurbs
you may flame me for this but look at where the amps are located-Stiiwater Ok...same townthat is home to Kicker HQ..this makes me think that they could be refurbed by Kicker or is this too much of a coincedence?
Edit I did`nt read all the posts did`nt see Polecat`s post before I replyed but yes Heconfirmed my thoughts.

coincedence. just like the one where they found the body in the city i killed him in

So if it's refurbished by Kicker, they would use the same quality components as a new amp right?

90-day warranties worry me, that they only know for sure that the amp will last at least 90 days, but after that...?

I've had great luck with eBay Kicker refurbs. But then again I've had great luck with new Kicker amps as well.

Refurbs can be one of two things.

A) Customer returns or B) new products that failed quality control before they left the factory.

I used to work for St. Louis Music the manufacturer of Crate and Ampeg guitar amplifiers, sound reinforcement, etc. When a guitar amp is tested before boxing and shipping the only thing that was done was plugging a guitar into it, playing a few chords and placing a "pass" sticker on it. If it failed this test is was sent back to us where we ripped out the entire board and replaced it with a new one. Then we performed more then a dozen tests on it to ensure a quality product. Then, by law, it was sold as a refurb. IMHO I would almost rather have a refurb than one that happened to get lucky and squeek past the simple initial testing.

If you work enough with Kicker products you'll notice that in almost every instance the refurbs have a lower wattage on the birth sheet than the "new" amplifiers do. I would bet this is due to more thorough and accurate testing.
