Kicker or Alpine?

1. What ive been told is that the Rms on those Bostons is 400 wats.

2. The kicker claims to give out 425 wats, the alpine says that it doesnt run any different in 2 or 4 ohm settings.

3. Id rather be a lil over powered than under.

4. And does the current draw make that much of a difference, because i see that the fuse is twice the size.
1. Max amp power is 400W, nominal (RMS) is 140W for the Z6's.

2. The Alpine amp has regulated power rails, so the output won't change depending on load.

3. Good plan.

4. Alpine = regulated digital amp. Kicker = unregulated A/B amp (hence more current draw).

The Kicker is a damm nice amp, but my vote goes to the Alpine or a Xenon X200.4 if you can find one (hint: check onlinecarstereo.com and ebay).

Hmm good info so far, size isnt a big issue. What ive been told is that the Rms on those Bostons is 400 wats. Still not sure which one, on asthetics and size the alpine is better on power the kicker seems better. The alpine also looks like a newer amp with the mosfet built into it, dont think the kicker has that. And does the current draw make that much of a difference, because i see that the fuse is twice the size.
If you live by that rule of thumb, you are not to smart. If you overpower your speakers, over time they will blow.

Every where i have seen the Z6's posted they are rated to 400wats rms. If you dont have a real opinion over either amp, not u obenjamin, but others that just come post "i live kicker" then please dont post cuz that is not helping my decision.

Anyways the real question i have now is will i notice a significant difference in the speakers if I use either or? And also will the alpine be able to handle the 3 ohm load when its bridged? As of now i would like to use all alpine amps, they seem to be newer and have more features. Thank you once again.

Go with the Alpine and and bi-amp those Z6's. Like I said earlier, Boston states the Z6's are 140W nominal/RMS, 400W max amp power (not 400W RMS).

Thank you, im pretty much set on using it, unless anyone here has a legit reason. Its alot smaller nearly half the size, also has newer features and i figure it will do good with an alpine hu and 2 other alpine amps, keep it simple and use the same brand.

Remember, don't bridge the amp for the Z6's. It's simply not needed. Biamp those comps instead.

Hmm will the tweets be able to handle all that power? Im kinda a newbie when it comes to bridging and biamping. Ill have to search around forums before i do it.

If the tweeter inputs on the Z6 passive crossovers are hooked up to channels 1+2, just adjust the gain accordingly as to not send them too much power.

Hook the midwoofer inputs on the Z6 crossovers up to channels 3+4 and do the same.

Doing it this way you'll have separate gain control for the tweets and mids.
