kicker l7 too quiet???

the alt supposedly puts out 120 amps... should be more than enough i'd say... could it be something wrong with my headunit? i have a pretty darn new alpine cda-9813... it's top of the line in sound output, i don't see why it would give me a problem.. in my friend's mustang, he has a 9811 and it works fine.. maybe some extra settings (which i highly doubt)?

 man thers no tellin whats wrong...only thing i can say is take it all out, and put it all back in, making sure erething is wired correctly...

cuz if two wires were touching that could make a big diffrence..so you can try that, or take it to the audio shop, but they charge money.. sooo

ok now i have a feeling a problem could be in ur HU. not a problem but u probably have some settings done wrong. I remember when i re hooked up my system and it wasnt bumpin then i checked my HU and it turns out i forgot i previously had faded the speakers to the front. Some HU's have a function that makes the subs not play(not sure what its called) but yeah definetly check the HU

somebody help.... alpine 9813... 1 kicker 12" l7... lanzar vibe 1200d mono amp... WHAT'S WRONG?!?!?!?!?!
get out your volt meter or go buy one. your alt. is fine, your wire's are fine then it's your sub. it's gotta be or something is messed up in your car. check your RCA's, check your remote wire from the h/u, check your wire's on the volt meter from the sub. my 35.1D and e12a were really quiet i was pissed then checked the old volt meter 4ohm and then i smacked myself.

as i said, i already checked everything.. got a 1.9ohm load (2ohms more or less) from the sub... wired up the whole thing in my friend's car... the sub DID HIT HARD... but in mine... it just won't hit... i think there may be something with my headunit...

have you checked all the other wires i just listed??? your remote wire from te h/u could be pinched somewere.

hmm.. remote, eh? could THAT make a difference? wouldn't the amp go into protection mode if the remote was acting up? i'll go check that right now and see.. then i'll head to al & ed's for my job interview //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif .. how ironic

what size power wire did you friend have?? was it bigger... do you have a lot of extra wire that you don't need possiblly.....you can lose power through long wires //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

thegreatandy20 here.. logged in on friend's comp... too lazy to logout and re-login with my name... anyway... it's 4gauge power and ground wire... and no, it's not too long.. in fact.. it's pretty much exact length with no slack.. and since it's a jetta, which is a tiny car.. i doubt i'm losing power due to length... and also... i checked the remote lead... it gives me proper voltage... so that can't be it either.... sigh.... anybody ever had a problem w/ headunit not giving good signal to amps? anybody ever have strange electrical problems in their car?

Well here does your amp have a low pass fiter...if so set it about 80hz

Now go behind your headunit and swich the sub RCAs to the rear RCA's. Go into your HU setting and make sure you do not have a high pass filter on make sure its set to through.

If it makes any difference then you know its your sub preamps and/or an incorrectly configured non-fader volume.

Do you have access to another amp for testing?

the amp is good.. i've tested it in my friend's car... i tried turning all crossovers off... doesn't make a difference... the thing just won't bump... anybody ever had a headunit perform just fine except be unable to utilize preouts?

did you actually go and check your RCA's?? that is the last option i can think of unless your h/u just has a bad set of RCA's. is the sub amp your only amp in your car?? if not maybe it's just that pre-out then i am kinda getting clueless now. other option is to just ask your friend if you can use his h/u for like 2 min. and see if that makes it thump in your car.
