kicker l7 box in a truck?

I have two kicker l7s with a kicker 1500.1 amp in a s10 ext. cab. I have a box that is sealed and down firing. Being down firing would that make the box more a band pass box? should i keep the sealed or build a custom ported. If i go ported it cant be very big because i dont want to have the box past the rear window. Im looking for good to moderate Sq and a pretty good spl. Please only comments with reasoning behind them.

I would leave them in the sealed box. In my opinion, the L7's struggle for SQ anyway, so in a ported box most likely the sq would suffer. The box being downfiring shouldn't make any difference.
