Kicker l7 12 problem

I'm not sure if its blown or something else is wrong it hits random bass noted and sometimes will stop working for like 30 sec. then start working again but only hits on random notes through out the song.Im wondering if it is the sub or the amp that is causing this.I have the gain turned up on the amp about 3/4 the way ,the bassboost off,and the other at 80hz and the subsonic filter on.Thanks if you can help me

My old amp used to do that when it would go into protect, but that was because it was overheating. So it would come out of protect for ~2-10 seconds, and then turn off again, every 30 seconds or so. Very annoying.

well i tried turning it to 80hz with the subsonic filter off and its still doing the same thing. It will like turn down real low sometimes and sometimes it will hit at random notes and sometimes it will not work at allfor a few seconds.I dont think its going into protect mode though because the green light stays on and the red doesnt ever turn on.

While the music is playing, slightly push down on the sub.The outer cone area.Kinda push it down and to the left or right. If the sub seems to play/move consistantly while pressing down, then you probably overheated the voice coil....basically its on the verge of blowing.I had a simlar instant happen. In fact, the sub quit playing all together unless I was to press firmly down on the sub pressing towards the box.Its hard to explain,Just jimmy with the cone area while its playing. Not to long, just to see if you get the sub to operate while pushing it.Also take an ohm reading and see what it reads. And yes,I agree, you may have a loose connection

Don't push on the cone side to side... you're sure to do more damage... pull the sub and check the v/c's with a DMM... Then reconnect everything ensuring proper connection... just sounds like a loose connection to me too... Also, are your RCA's secure?

Oh God,its not gonna kill the sub.Im only talking for a couple of seconds at low volumes...sheesh

i just got done pulling the sub and disconnecting all the wires from the box and sub and it still does the same thing,i think this weekend i will take it back to circutcity where i got it installed at and get them to check everything out.

Heck,if I would have known it was a newly bought sub,I would have suggested that to begin with.Anytime you can avoid the hassle of troubleshooting.Do it.Thats the purpose of having a professional install your equipment. Most places warranty the install.Especially if you bought from them.

i didnt buy from them just got it installed thier, but i got my first sub installed thier that worked for about 3 weeks then it blew then i got this one 2 days ago and now its doing this.
