ok my friend needs a new amp, hes using a profile ap2000...

i told him to get a HIFONICS BX1800D..

but he thinks that 900w to each sub is too much...

i dont think its too much..

his l5s 12" are in a slot port box...

what do you think??

sorry, i had my numbers mixed up, i thought the l7 was 1000rms and the l5 was 750

but the l7 is 750 and so on, knowing that, you could run 4 l5's off of 1800 watts(power wise, it'd all depend on the coils)

L5 15'' would be able to handle 900 RMS (in a descently designed box)

i used a comp vr 15'' for a while and it handled around 800 RMS pretty easy.

so i dont see why the L5 wouldnt be able to hold MORE.

Tell your friend to get the BX1800D and keep the gains down. It's got decent power and room to power other subs if he upgrades in the future.

I've got a KX1200.1 (+1400w according to the birthsheet) powering 2 8L7's (450w RMS each) and have had no problems. You just gotta keep the gain and volume under control.
