hey guys i was wanting to upgrade my system but my car isnt the nicest and i don't want to buy a new alt. The biggest alt that will fit my car is 200amp and i have a 110 right now.

I was wondering if running either of these amps would even be possible off the stock alternator with maybe like a kinetik hc2400 in the back?

thanks

I wouldn't do it without big 3 and an HO alt, but it is possible. You won't be seeing nice power out of those amps though. Don't see why adding a couple batteries would hurt the alt that much unless you are really draining those batteries. Just keep an eye on the voltage and don't let it drop below 12.

Look into getting your alt rewired and a smaller pulley. They can usually get upwards of 40 more amps out of it doing those (though not often recommended) but it is much, much cheaper.

No it's not impossible. And no, a stock alt + HC2400 + big amp will not kill your alternator. I haven't upgraded my alternator because it would cost be $500 for a 180 amp alternator, the largest available for my vehicle.

I have ever only had a stock alternator. I have an Optima g34/78 in the back.

Off of that electrical, I have ran an IA 20.1 @ 0.5 ohm, ZX2500.1 @ 2 ohm, and now a Stetsom 2k6d @ 0.5 ohm. All that was daily. I do not know how many amps my stock alt is rated for, but I would guess it is not much more than 100. So don't worry about it and go for it. Just set your gains properly and pay attention to your voltage drops. Don't go driving around with your system blasting at full tilt all day.

But it is far from impossible.

im not saying its impossible but instead of spending all that money on bateries just go ahead and get the upgraged alternator, i was running my kx2500.1 with a yellowtop in the back, and the stress kilt my old *** alternator within a month

i'd say the kicker sicne it'll drain less at 2 ohm..
The kicker can still draw more than 250+ amps at full tilt
