Kicker amp question

I bought a used 2002 avalanche around not too long ago and I had a recently installed kicker amp and a 10" jbl sub in it. I'm not very technologically smart and I don't know a ton on speakers or subs but from reading around I can tell that my speakers have been going into protect mode. They have been popping and going in and out since I bought it. I was just wondering how I could put it out of protect mode. There's no switch on the outside or anything so I'm completely lost here. Thanks for any help!

If they are popping and going in and out quick, your amplifier's protect mode is not the issue. What exactly is happening, and when? Like only when the volume is loud, during a certain song, etc?

They go in and out on just about everything I play. And it's sporadic. It jus goes in and out randomly. Every once in a while it'll work for like 2-3 days good and then it goes back to normal

Yeah, you can definitely do it yourself. I'm a novice, but I put my second system in. Find where the ground is and first see is the area clean of paint/plus the wire connector is making snug contact. If it's not all the way down to clean metal you can sand it down. I had to do this. The previous owner of the car left old wiring in it, and I wanted to use my own because some were in bad shape. The way they had the ground wire was that they sandwiched it between to nuts on a bolt. I couldn't get the second bolt back on because it was stripped, so I decided to put it on so it was in contact with the body. Had to clear away paint. I used a drill with an attachment like this Redirect Notice

An update on my situation: I tightened my ground and it hasn't helped. Same problem it only works under volume 15 and still goes in and out. I still think it may be going into protec but once again I'm not a professional.
