Kicker 750.1 zx and L7 12" sub

Ok, it has dual 4 ohm coils. That means that it's actually in 8 ohm series right now...That can't be good right? I wonder why the installer wouldn't open the sub box and take the sub out to see how it's wired or check the coils to see if they are 2 or 4? Well, I'm going to put it 2 ohm parallel tomorrow see how it sounds. Daboy, I pmed the seller of the Audioque. Let's see if he still has it...

Okay, I wired them to 2 ohm and it definitely hits harder. I don't know if I even need another amp. The birth sheet rated mines at 936 and it pounds. Now, I see what people say about Kicker solo's in that they hit very hard but can get muffled with lower range bass. I guess I will have to search for a sub that hit just as hard but have more SQ for a good price and sell this L7...Man it never stops!!! This car audio thing can be addicting and expensive.

Very addicting and expensive, it'll likely never stop. But yeh, that sub is probably more than fine with that amp at 2ohms, no need to waste money there. Surprised the installer didn't know better to just take DMM to the outside of the box to see what it's wired at

Daboy, thanks for all your help as well as the others that chimed. Like I said though, I need to start gearing toward SQ because I've just been a hard core fan of SPL all my life, but I'm getting older and I think I need to start changing my listening habits. I will start to research a sub with more SQ at this point...

Ended up purchasing a Rockford Fosgate T1500-1bd. It should get here by next week. I already have the RF T400.4 and I love it...

ouch.........what you need to do, is remove that box from your system and build a box made for the sub..........to say an L7 does not hit low, is to plainly say it's a siht box. naturally, they are shakers........and that 750 is just about the perfect match for the sub...

I don't like Kicker, but I'd have to agree. That sub should sound fine in the proper box

"ouch"

Lol, I wanted this RF for a while now. I will look into getting a better box built for the L7 or I will buy another sub set up. We'll see. I definitely think that the RF is a better amp.

You know my box has no stuffing in it I was thinking about putting some in there. The box that came with the L7 is almost like the one from kicker except it doesn't slant on the back of it. What do you guys think?

that rockford will more than power a 15, or dual 12's. i have the t500 bd putting out somewhere in the 800 range(according to the dealer) and i believe it. yes, rockford has always made some real powerful underrated amps that don't often fail..... long story short, i think you are on the right track to either buy a different sub (or even pair up with another 12) for that kind of power. on a side-note, that zx is on my list of amps to buy.....

Well, I'll probably be selling this one...I usually like to keep amps in my closet in case one fails. I also have a 4 channel Alpine V-power MRP-F450 that I replaced with the RF T400.4 that I will probably be selling as well...
