Same exact problem as the guy in this thread: http://www.carstereo.com/forum/showthread.cfm?tid=41942&search=kicker%

I've got the same exact problem, and have been searching for a while now trying to figure it out. Read somewhere else that it could be the power supply. Any chance that's true?

I tested mine in two different cars, running and not running, and also with a portable battery jumper on the bench, same thing in all tests. Also had only the remote, power, ground connected.

Should probably mention that my friend gave it to me when he had problems and bought another. He was running a single 12'' L7, and had it 'thumpin' then nothing.

I'm stumped. Opened it up, looked for like 10 minutes, saw nothing burnt, nothing smelled, no signs of smoke. Should mention he had the bass control knob all the way up, so that could have had something to do with it. I have no problem having it repaired if it's necessary, just want the **** thing working;)

If it's needs repair, any places to suggest? Don't know of anyone around me to get it checked out. Thanks for your opinions.

Fawk, guess it's good I got it for free then.

I see you're on the Kicker team. I have found this problem a few times while searching online, so I know it's happened to more people than me. Any idea what the ballpark cost would be to fix if I shipped it back to you guys?

thanks for the response,

you can call 405-624-8510 and ask for an RMA, send it in, and they will call you with a quote. usually, cost is between $45-$50....

if you got it for free, yea, your miles ahead. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

sweet, thanks:D i've gotta comfirm my l7 is a 2ohm, then figure out what to do from there. I know it's a 2 ohm amp, and AFAIK I can only bridge the sub into either 1 or 4 ohms, according to the woofer wiring wizard. crossing my fingers it's a 4 ohm, picking it up tomorrow:cool:

Would be interested to see what the repair cost comes out to be. Not familiar with the 600.1 amp, but $45-$50 for a factory RMA on a used out of warranty amp is really cheap. Is that generally for all Kicker amps or just this one, the 600.1? I might repair it for $50-$60 depending on what needed replacing, but $45-$50 is extremely cheap. Of course when you are the manufacturer you can repair things cheap, you buy the parts by the thousand, a $2.00 single part becomes a $0.60 cent part by the thousand.

I wish all manufacturers would do a program like that. Most of the ones I have called offer no repair services or parts for any out of warranty amplifier.

Chris

chris, i've decided that I'm going to sell it as-is if I can't find someone to repair it locally. I decided it's probably not worth my hassle for the small profit i'd make re-selling it. If I change my mind, i'll let ya know what it costs;)

Chris, from what I've seen, that costing is the majority of the amps...unless the whole board is fried.
