kicker 1200.1...... 1 or 2

What's up...first post and great to be here. I've got 2 KX 1200.1(birthsheets read 1460 and 1465) and 2 '06 L7 12's(dual 4). My question is, should i use both amps at 2 ohms or just 1 of them at 1 ohm? Thanks for the help ahead of time.

Use one wired at 1ohm... it will be much easier to install

would it be that much of a difference in current draw since the power is the same..?? Also if this helps i have a 205 amp alternator and two yellow tops(1 under hood, 1 in trunk)

Yes man do 2. The difference going from ~1300 to ~2500 watts for me was night and day.

i guess i'm confused here.....would it not be the same power since i would be wiring each amp to see a 2 ohm load....w/ 1 amp it would be a 1 ohm load???from what i can tell there will be no extra power just a whole lotta headroom

It'll be a little more power than one amp, while running more effeciant... I'd put both amps in there, unless you feel the $ you can make by selling the other amp is worth the small loss of power.

problem is, you have two DVC 4's, so a final 1 or 4 ohm load, if you strap the two KX12001's, load changes to 2 ohm, so you need two DVC 2's...or if you wire one to each sub, you still only see a 2 ohm load.

I only have 1 1200.1 hooked up to both of my Dual 4 L7's and they slam extremley hard, w/ the proper box build that is...

thanks for stating the entirely obvious....i wasn't really planning on roasting two brand new woofers with double their RMS.....thanks for trying but the question was would it benefit me to run both amps since they will run much more efficiently at 2 ohms than at 1 ohm....just wondering if it would be worth it
