Kicker 12" CVRs

500 is a very good budget for first setup. If done right you will be very happy.

Absolutely do not cheap out on your wiring kit. Just don't cause u will regret it when you are fiending for more bass and find out your wire is crap.

Either buy a 4 gauge OFC ( NOT CCA ) kit from knukonceptz.com or I got my 1/0 cable from Trystar in Faribault. You would need RCA and fuseholder if u went the local route though. I would suggest the 4 gauge knu kit for sure though! (I have some run in my car)

Also if you are set on kicker, a buddy of mine has that same setup sitting around not being used (2 12 cvr and zx750 in kicker ported box) I can probly get it to you for cheap and I know it wasn't beat on. He bought a new car and didn't wanna rattle everything apart.

I have a few subs in mind for ur budget but I would need to know what your end goal is.

Super loud wangage SPL everyone can hear u rattling around..

Nice deep sound quality that is good for all types of music..

I personally would suggest a setup that will be easy for you to upgrade cause trust me once you start you always crave more

just put it like this to me anyways, i would only go with kicker if its a solo x or a 15 l7, their amp are indeed over rated theres no doubt about that, id say try to get the amp solo for 179 or so, and get you some better subs, thats my opionion.
Kicker amps are underrated..usually by A LOT //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Also, what are you doing for your source? (headunit, deck, cd player). You will need a headunit to supply the signal via RCA cables to your amplifier (basicly power cable sends the power..RCA sends the music to the amp)

You can buy converters to use a factory headunit but might as well just get a cheap (or nice!) deck which offers slot of extra features (iPod control, equalizer/sub settings)

Thanks for the wiring advice....some people told me to get the wiring kit at Walmart which I'm sure is crap.

No, I'm definitely not set on kicker....that was just what a few people had recommended and what was more prevalent on craigslist.

What I'm looking for is nice deep sound quality all the way! I'm definitely not focused on max power that's gonna be heard 10 blocks away. I want this for listening to a lot of music types....rap, electro, rock, pop, etc. However, I do want some nice power that's gonna be felt inside the car.

I just ordered an Pioneer P7200HD deck....is this any good? I can still return it if not. I wanted an older Pioneer deck with the 7 band equalizer, but couldn't find one.

Sure.. That unit will be great. 3 sets of 4v RCA out puts (incase u wanna add a amp for front/rear speakers) which I never intended on doing myself but I did. (car audio addiction) plus the hd radio could be cool when you get sick of your own music.

I am a big fan of pioneer I have always used them myself!

Kicker will not provide ample sound quality but they will be loud but since you have a jeep (no trunk) just about anything will be significantly louder than being in a trunk such as my car. I have a beast trunk but it literally drops the output inside the car by like 40% (trust me, I've wires them to my back seat before to try and it was a huge difference)

I'm thinking possibly some RE SX 12's or maybe the SE's. RE makes some very good sounding subs for the price

Also consider getting a single sub. Mine right now is a single 12. It's a SA-12 rebuilt by splaudio and I'm giving it 1200 watts RMS and it sounds great

I wouldn't reccomend getting a kit from walmart. I'm not exactly sure what their selection is, they could possibly carry some ok stuff. But trust me, 50$ for this kit here is everything you need and it's great cable. Ask anyone here knu's OFC is some of the best. This stuff should be good for probably up to 2000rms (and you are looking at doing 750rms so far) so lots of room to upgrade later on.

Look at it like this. Why buy a wiring kit for 30-40$ that may be fine for 1000rms or less, which may be fine for now, or spend an extra 20$ and know you have good quality stuff and you can upgrade in the future without having to rip out all your old cable and buy new stuff.

I know because I went through that at one point. If only I had someone to tell me that back then I could have avoided alot of labor and cost

4 Gauge Amplifier Installation Kit

Thanks. So, for something like the RE SX 12's, where would I look for them? New, used, online? What about for an amp?

As far as a single sub goes....I'm not sure. I'm guessing I would want another one soon enough....I do like the sound of 2 12"s.

Generally, I use sonicelectronix.com for most of my purchases when I can. Their prices are usually the best, if not they are very close. Their service is great and shipping is fast.

One way to find prices us find what model you are looking for (for instance "kicker zx750") and search google shopping.

eBay is also an alright place if you know how to use it properly (only do buy it now brand new stuff from companies though)

Sonicelectronix is on eBay and they usually list stuff on eBay that they have on their site for cheaper.

Working with 1 sub is usually easier to take care of.

If I were in your position.. I would probably look for a single 15 that does around 1kwrms and get a amp around 1kwrms.

One RE SX12 or 15 powered off a good amp will sound MUCH better than 2 kickers. It will probly get alot louder too. I think a single SX can be had for 200$

Here is what I suggest you do. Be patient.

Order your wiring kit and wait for your head unit.

Install headunit, and wire up your car so you're ready.

That way once you're all wired up, you can easily drop in a amp and loaded box and try out a couple different setups in your vehicle. You can try your friends kickers, then if you like it, buy some. Your also welcome to try mine. If your car is wired up it would take me about 5 minutes to put my sub/amp in there and try it out quick. That way also, if u meet up with someone from craigslist, you could easily hook it up in to make sure it works and make sure it sounds good to you.

This is just what I suggest doing, before jumping the gun and ordering everything at once

Kicker CVRs are just fine for subs. My 4 12" CVRs sound great and move a bunch of air for what they are. You can find the 2007 models (what I have) for $70 each, shipped, BNIB.

Obviously something like a pair of RE SX 12s would **** a pair of CVRs though. Two completely different classes of subs.

If youre looking for some serious bass on a decent budget, Im selling an AQ HDC3 18. Its brand new, freshly reconed. Id do $310 shipped to MN for you. Give it 1500w and you would have a great system.

:sneaky:I WANT SAY THT SOUNDS LIKE A DEAL

I think I'm going to take SourDeez's advice and shop around for a bit. However, I did run across 2 12" Kicker L7s in a sealed box on cg for $300. Just wondering what kind of a deal that is? My friend is kinda interested in them...he's just an SPL freak. I've heard that they pound pretty hard, but don't go far with quality?

Most people here will say no. But ive never hear 12's before (l7) just 15's so i cannot say nothing but it sounds like a deal
