Kick panels and tweeter placement

its all personal preference my friend. i actually have had my tweets on the dash near the a pillars and i have my tweeters in the kick panel area right now. and to tell you the truth, overall i like the tweeters in the kick panel area for a few reasons. the stage is wider and deeper down there. the music is much more full and detailed, especially in the lower midrange. only problem is that the stage is lower but overall i like it better than on the dash. but like i said, its personal preference. play with both areas.

General rule of thumb is to keep the mid and tweeter as close together as possible. Typically results in a better overall sound and staging, especially when running passive, since they are closer to being a single point source.

IMHO, about the only time separating the mid and tweeter really works well is when you are running active and can alter the xover frequency and slope, and have time alignment. Even then, you are normally better off to keep them together. You just have the ability to make separating them work better than when running passive.
