Kia or Hyundai

Back when Kia first hit America my buddy had a Kia and it was loaded with Mazda parts. Just an FYI.

I like Mazda's personally and that car held up well. IMHO Kia took a big leap this last year in quality, fit, finish, and STYLING. Styling is a key word because up until the last year or so the Korean cars were super ugly. I never understood why a cheap car had to be ugly.

both have made huge advances in quality and performance in the past couple years. i work on cars for a living and i wouldn't look down on anyone who drives a new kia or hyundai. hyndai just developed a new 380hp V8 for their luxury car. they spent hundreds of millions on it to make sure it was as good or better than any v8 available. they're a good value for the money.

Between those two, I think Hyundai looks better. Nissan Sentra is what I picked up as my commuter recently. Does well.
x2 I picked up an 01 Sentra 3 years ago for 5k with 70k on the clock and drive that ***** back and forth to work everyday, its at about 130k now I think.

Also had a real beater 88 Sentra that went up to about 195k before I just decided I wanted a new car.

Personally for a commuter they are going to look like shit anyways usually I would go used, get something reliable and just drive the shit out of it.

Hyuindai, Kia....both Korean. On a side note, one of my best friends is an engineer for Honda and last year they went out and bought a brand new Hyundai sonata V6 and the group of engineers all ripped the entire car down to the frame and they all had the same conclusion.....Honda better step its game up because the Hyundai was better engineered than anything Honda had for that model year
