Kerfed-rear enclosure

I was thinking of doing an enclosure with a kerfed back to try to refract the waves... I'm just not sure if this would work. I think it would work with a mid-range speaker... just not sure if it will with a sealed sub / ported sub or if it's worth it.

Any input?

Yes. Yes it is. But waves can still be refracted through the speaker cone.

That's what I was thinking... but it would look cool as hell, and I mean, yield is better than none. To kerf wood, it only takes math and five minutes or so. Just a little amount of work.

could probably accomplish the same thing with some accoustical mat behind the sub, but the kerfed enclosure would look cool...
