Kenwood sub upgrade..

Right now I have 2 Kenwood 2513 10" subs in a sound ordnance sealed box powered by the 8105d amp. 500W RMS @ 2 ohms.

It sounds great, but after bridging my 4 channel amp and giving my polks the power they apparently wanted, its not loud enough. I want more thump, even for the music I listen to. I listen to rock, all sorts of metal, and once in a blue moon.. rap.

I dont want a ported box. Wont sound great for the music I listen to and Ill lose the punchyness I like. So heres what Im planning to do. Im going to keep my current amp + subs but buy another kenwood amp (9105d on ebay) and get some better subs. Looking at Kicker 10CVR102's. I would then build a custom box to hold all 4 of these subs, with the 2 kenwoods being powered by the 8105d, and the kickers powered by the 9105d.

So I officially just won the 9105d amp on ebay. Manufacturer refurbished... got it for 120$ shipped :]

So I'll have 3 amps now. Wow. Still havent decided on what subs I wanna push with this new amp.. but my budget is about 150-200$ for 2. Used is k.

do not run both sets of subs.

just get one nice set and call it a day.

and since your already doing 2 10s you could always go with a single 15 (same cone area)

the skar vvx comes to mind as well as an sa15 or obsidian 15. but all of them will far outperform what your running.

I've thought about that.. but any particular reason why? I dont want to just have these kenwoods and a perfectly good amp laying around. May as well use them right?

running mix matched subs can very likely lead to cancellation. which will actually make things quieter and sound worse. also it looks getto as fawk.

and a properly built ported box will blow your mind as far as how good it will sound on metal.

4th order is a sub in a sealed chamber firing into a ported chamber.

even in sealed boxes 2 different subs will have different response curves and especially being on 2 different amps.

but putting them on the same amp is even more of a bad idea though.

Sounds badazz. What the heck does that sound like though? Is that similar to a bandpass box?

So Im stuck with 2 amps now? ****. I would buy 4 of the same sub.. but thats big $$ that I dont have. Unless I bought 2 more of the kenwoods I already have, which I can afford.. only 110$ on ebay for 2. But I dont think theyll handle 450W RMS a piece very well.. opinions?

Whats your opinion on if I just built a bigazz sealed box for all 4 subs? Probably .6ish sqft a piece for the kenwoods, and probably closer to 1.5 for the kickers. Will it really sound that bad?

Like I said, I could just buy 2 more kenwoods.. but I was under the impression that the kickers Im looking at are much, better.

i dont like sealed in the first place so i would be biased. alot of people who say they wont want ported. try it and never leave..... i was one of them

in the right enclosure on the right power a good 10 will outperform all 4 of the mixed subs your wanting to do.
