i just installed my sub, its a 12" D6 getting 900watts

when everything is set to flat on my x589, the sub isnt very loud

i have to turn the sub level up to 5 or 7 out of 15 to get it really bumpin

i have the HPF on 80hz, same with my LPF

does the sub level just turn up the voltage on the sub pre-outs?

because there is also a bass level setting.

yes. pre out voltage should increase.

set your gains with it at 0......

then it will be a non-issue

I have that same head unit. Where is you bass setting at? I have mine at 0. I run my sub level anywhere from 7-11 depending on the music. Sounds great. If you have your gains set right you shouldnt have to worrie about tuning that sub level up. i set my gains with the sub level at 0 and the volume at 26

now when im playing music i have the sub level at 7 and volume at 23

since im raising the sub level i dont want to send a clipped signal to the sub

but i havent heard any distortion in the sub yet

is it easy to hear distortion in a sub?

Normally yes, but this is not always the case. As you get more familier with your system you will be able to tell easier.
