Well, I am going to be putting a new head unit in my car. Although, I will have to do some modification to get it in (fiberglassing). The head unit I am looking at is the Kenwood Excelon KDC-X590. Here is a link to it at Crutchfield. I have read up on it and it seems to be a wonderful deck. 4V preamp outputs, USB port, and from what I read, great sound quality. I am pretty much set on this deck. Looks like a great deck for a very good price, one of the best in it's price range. So, I have a few questions about it...

1) Can you tune the crossover frequencies of your front, rear, and subwoofers from the deck?

2) Will my iPod work if I hook it up to the USB Port?

3) Anybody here use this? Or have previously used it?

4) If so, how did you like it? Any problems?

Hopefully you guys can help me out. Thanks.

I think the USB will work, but you would have to transfer your music to the Ipod by drag n drop through Windows. It will work like an external hard drive.
I'm not a big computer techy, so you'll have to explain a little more....

Anybody else have anything to say about this deck?

I have the 2005 model of that head unit. This puppy is sweet! Mine is the KDC-X589. In answer to your question: 1 YES 2 YES 3 & 4 Mine is about idintical to that so I will tell you that I have had no problems with my HU. It will take some time to figure it out, but the results are amazing. You are making a good choice! You can really tweek your system nicely with this puppy. I have nothing but good things to say about the Excelon line. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Good luck to you.

Cool beans. Looks like I'll be buying this unit when I get the money.

I also have the X589. I picked it up on ebay(for $158 shipped) around 14 months ago and I still love it. It doesn't have a fancy display(which I could care less about anyway) but it has the basics(and quite a bit more) covered...4V preouts, 3-band parametric EQ, hi and low-pass crossovers, etc.

It has excellent SQ...a much better unit all around than my previous HU, an eXcelon X717.

And thank goodness Kenwood finally ditched the stupid and troublesome D-Mask feature with the '05's.

You're making a solid choice.

Awesome, thanks for the help.
