I have a diamond audio 1200watt amp, it has three 40amp fuses. I am trying to install the amplifier and i take the ground off the battery, hook up the positive and negative wires to the amp. Attach the ground on the battery and then the fuses blow...... I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY?

any help?

nope the fuses are the right size, and the power wire is layed out so.....

there is a power inverter in the car right now, it is run off the battery. Has positive and negative terminal connected to the battery. We are running the power cable off those connections on the power inverter

Could also be an internal problem, I had an amp do that once. Kept poping fuses on power contact, was trash...
well the amp was working before that, and we disconnected the negative on the battery and hooked up another amp and just left the amp in there, after that we put the pos and neg wire in the amp (with the neg disconnected on the batt) after all the power connections were made we hooked the negative and as we touched the negative wire to the battery it sparked as if there is a short in the system so i dont think its teh amp unless its shorted inside
