JVC Bluetooth Adapter Help

Bought a JVC KD-X80BT hu back in November and the bluetooth dongle died last week. Since I misplaced my receipt JVC will not send me a replacement dongle and they want $60 for a new one. Is it possible to buy any bluetooth dongle and plug it in or do I have to have the JVC one? If all the dongle does is pass data back and forth I dont see why I couldnt use any adapter.
