Just wondering, since Profile amps are overrated

Was just wondering if a cheapy Profile amp (AP400) that claims to do 65W RMS x2 @ 4ohms would atleast do 50W RMS?

I know they are overrated, but I don't have much cash left.

Was also looking at a 100W RMS x2 version of a Profile HA600, but if the 65W RMS would do close to atleast 50W per channel than I'd rather save a few bucks.

Anyone know enough about the profiles or have tried out the AP400 before?

I've searched for the AP400 and found nothing, I've found ALOT of information stating the Profiles were good overrated budget amps, but they were mostly for the Monoblocks or the High wattage amps.

Just wondering about how bad the lower wattage Profile amps were overrated.

I've used a few of their multi-channel amps... I'd say it'll probably do around 50 watts per channel. They aren't half bad on a tight budget.

cool thanks. I wasn't sure how overrated the lower wattage amps were.

Wasn't sure if I'd only get like 30W RMS out of each channel or what.

Yes, Profile amps are a bit optimistic on their output claims but not grossly so like you might expect from something along the lines of a Boss amp or one of the offerings from Pyramid or the like.

If the amp is rated for 65w per channel then you should easily get 50w+ per channel actual power.

50-55w is going to be most likely there.

Hell wish I had more money for alot of shit, but just can't make it work right now.

I made another post for this in wiring section, but 8awg power wire would be good enough if that's all I'm pushing through that amp right? 50W RMS x 2.

I would agree sounds like a very good estimate. I only have experience with the AP2000 but I would say they are nice amps for the money and I wouldn't second guess using them. Sounds like you are on the right track.

As others are saying you should be able to get the 50watts RMS that your lookin for out of that amp.
