I scored a pair of diamond 12''s from and online auction there in a ported box, last night I boght a diamond 1600w 2 channel mosfet amp, and a 4guage wiring kit, I need some explanation, what do the channels mean like is it 2channel for 2 subs or what and what can i do to protect my system when i start using it (i heard fans to cool it and capacitors to do something idk its my first one)

You dont need to worry about fans right now and capacitors are not worth your time. That amp is probably more like 7-800 watts. You need to look at the RMS rating on stuff not the max or peak. One channel goes to one speaker. The gain knob is not a volume knob. what head unit do you have?

i have a dual idk anything about it i got it from a freind but the amp is only like 800 thats fine with me and the channel thing is like i thought thats good becuase i have 2 subs but do you think it will sound good

Not if you're installing it no. Also if you're using a dual head unit there is no way it will sound good.

For subwoofers, its best to use a D class monoblock, as they are more efficient.
