well i got a amplifier and has no internal fuses, so i was wondering ... i have a rear battery;

rear bat + --------->200amp fuse------->amplifier

or

rear bat + ------->200amp fuse(to protect to pwr wire)-------->200amp fuse(for amp)------>amplifier

i already have a fuse from front to bak battery

plz lmk asap

thx

i have a similar question, my amp has no int. fuse either, and it says to use a 80 amp inline, my amp kit came with a 300 amp ANL, took it to cartoys they said dont worry about it, but wont this mess something up?

They're idiots. If the recommendations from the amp manufacturer states an inline 80A fuse needs to be installed, than install one!

Of COURSE it will mess something up. The minute your car has an electrical surge that's more than 80A but less than 300A, guess what's getting fried?

if you have a >100A

My amps don't have fuses either, and I see no reason to fuse other than what the wire needs.

The only time I've blown amp specific fuses the amp was already wasted anyway.

I WOULD however run something smaller than 300A up front. Since you know your amp needs nothing larger than 80 I'd go with 100A. That way you know the amp's current needs are more than covered, and if there's ever an amp failure that causes the amp to short there will be no issue with the wire heating up/battery dumping charge waiting for the fuse to open the circuit.

Bad advice. The recommend MOCP for the amp is 80A. that is already the MAX size fuse the manufacturer has tested the amp to. If you're going to install an 100A fuse, you might as well NOT put in a fuse.

The amps power needs are already covered with the 80A fuse. See above.

The smartest thing the OP needs to do is run 4ga to a fused distribution block that contains an 80A fuse, and some spares for future upgrades.
