Looking at auctions for 25 to life Power1000s and I come across this one http://cgi.ebay.com/Rockford-Fosgate-Power-1000-Rare-25-to-Life-edition-AMP_W0QQitemZ200112838491QQihZ010QQcategoryZ39739QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

In this image the board clearly looks red.

On RFs site and from my own pictures the board is supposed to be silver.

His pricing is also too good to be true if ya ask me.

I can't speak to the amp, but if its too good to be true, it probably is.

Go with your gut on this one, and don't look back.

Course, if you use a CC and he burns you, at least you have recourse.

UPDATE

I didn't get the pics yet but he did take the cover off and compared my pics to his.

noticed a difference in mine and the picture you sent me. Look toward the top of the amp PCB, near the large capacitors, your picture has two little "white rectangles" where mine has none. Both amps have an outline that looks like it would have a cap or something else large and round, but it is strange the differences. Mine has these numbers on the bottom of the PCB under the Rockford corp 1325-51543-04, I wonder what these mean?
Thanks-
I just emailed Rockford for an explanation....I may need to keep it. I bet it was one of the 40 built as demo units for select dealers before they were released. These are discussed on their forum. I will let you know what they say!
I requested he send me pics. I will update when he does.

It's probably just a different board revision. Companies are always making different revs of the same board. They will almost always have very similar performance but usually reliability or cost are improved.

Don't they usually mark revs on the board itself?

The only difference is like he said, his is missing the white resistors up top. Other than that the layout and components are the same.

well i doubt it's bogus, the guy has 100% feedback, member since 05,what does he have to gain by 480.00,unless he himself does not know it's a phony
I doubt it is phony now. If it was I doubt he would knowingly sell it as such. You should also know from dealing on this site that feedback and refs should only be taken so far. I have seen some people here with long history just decide to screw many people. Hard times even hit the best of people. "since 05", I hardly consider 2 years, lengthy history either. Either way, I'm sure he isn't trying anything funny.

This is just the only red PCB power 1000 I have seen and the lack of the 2 resistors is odd as well. I do believe it is legit though and he may very well have a marketing demo unit.

Yes, revs are made on the board as well as components. Where I work, the senior PCB designer cranks out new board revs all the time. I do the testing for them and it's almost always a cost saving design or for reliability issues. There may have been an issue with some traces blowing under extreme stresses and that may be why they added the two resisters.

Get every number on the PCB from the guy and contact RF to see what they all mean. They should shed some light on the subject.

Yeah they must be hiding rev numbers in obscure fashion then. I am use to seeing literally REV.X.XXX like all my PCs mobos have. I don't see that on the mainboard of my amp. He emailed RF with his serial#, so they should be able to tell him exactly what he has. You could be right, I just find it odd that they switched PCB colors in the middle of a limited edition collector series run? Not that I expect this collecotrs edition to achieve any resale status resembling the original Power 1000 lol. I can't believe the money those still go for.
