Just got some bad news

as most of you know i am a MECP installer here at R.C. Willey.

I have been the Lead tech/ Installer/ Maneger here for 3 year's.

well i just got word that as of January 31 all 20 some store's are going to be getting out of car audio/ electronics, sales, and install. bummer....

but at the same time I am going to be lead tech/ installer of our Home theater install witch pay's a bit more.

now the shop i work in is separated from the store, used to be an old muffler install shop. I am going to see if I can afford to buy & operate this place. Me and my Buddy will take it over ( if we can ) and do basic install's, to custom fiberglass and window tint. i have plenty of Ref's with a BUNCH of dealer's that cary everything from A/D/S to Zapco.. so i just have to look into how mutch it would cost me to buy this place.

allso i have 3 other highly reputible shop's biteing at my toe's here in the Salt lake city area. Hi- Fi shop, Cartunes, Sound warehouse, Audio Extreame, and Car concept's, all would like to have me on there team..

I will more then likely do part time here at RCW doing home theater install's ( to keep my health benifit's, 401k, and my awsome employee cost on all electronics, ferniture, and appliences. and will work full time at Hi-Fi doing some install's but mostly building custom boxes and helping on the big custom job's.

sucks cause i love my shop and working here. if i can afford it i would buy this shop in a heart beat!! but with the size of this place im looking at atleast 200k +

i do thnk god, mostly because i have a huge reputation behind me. i know allot of car audio vet's that have been doing this before i was born that can back me up when i say i know what i am doing.

plus word of mouth get's around. i have people comeing to me from all over northern utah by word of mouth..

my dad has been wanting me to open up a car audio shop ever since I Graduated from High school.

he may evewn invest in it himself...

well like allway's i think ahead..

working the Home thater install allone will give me at least 35k a year.

and allso working at Hi Fi will be around 30k a year.

allso had a guy call me down in Salt lake, that wanted me to install over a few 1000 gps system's into rental car's. i tould him not for $10 an hour. but at lesat 100-150 a car.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/greedy.gif.5a53e6246569d7ab79867170f3b06629.gif

I used to work for a fleet company out of Ohio called ABC (America's Body Company) if you have ever seen a blue ford Sear's van with a white can on the roof, there is a 85% chance i installed it. we used to install millions of GPS System's, Back up sonar's, back up camera's, security system's ect ect..

i'd like to find a fleet company around here cause when i was in ohio doing that i made a grand a day easy..

The issue with HT is that most people do one large buy and are set. Things rarely change in HT compared to CA. In the CA business, you have people changing cars, getting stuff jacked, people's taste changing, upgrades, etc. There is much more turnover in CA. More sales volume potential in CA. Not to mention the CA competitors.

Hi-Fi has a home audio section to and they make BANK!!

but it's like a three man operation, and my heart and soul is in car audioz anyway's...

yea. but we are talking about a few million doller home's with over 100+k HT system's in them.. to those people there like ehh what's a few hundred thousend. do the job right and you never see them again and it's on to the next customer..

allso with this place closeing down. i inherit 2 bad *** table saw's, table router, skill saw, circuler saw, palm sander, bad *** snap on air tool kit with impact driver, 4 heavy duty benches, all the wire rack's, all the display's, banner's neon sign's, a bunch of car install part's and interfaces, and allot more. for free.
