Just picked up a chrome used 15" L7 in not so good cosmetic shape but good mechanically for $100. Putting it in the trunk of my town car (very big) what size box and tuning should I go for and how much power does this thing need to really move.. don't have to much to spend on an amp so what would be a good budget wattage to send to it... Thanks

That sub in a trunk car? Try 3.5 to 4 cubes net at around 40 Hz to get it loud without spending a whole lot on power. What you need to be sure of is that your box isn't so big that all the pressure stays inside the trunk. Make sure you leave some space around the box. As for an amp. The 1000 watt Cadence has been a popular recommendation lately. It can be had on eBay for like 200 bucks.

well my trunk is really big , right now have a 2.5 cu ft box and it takes up like 1/3 the trunk... There would plenty of room around it if like 5cu ft is better however I would rather go with what is better of a lower amount of power.. so 650watts rms would get it moving pretty good?

Well my amp now is 500rms so kinda dumb to spend more $ for 650 and the 500 is to little so Ill probably just give up and go for at least 750rms so 5 cubes deff seems to be what Im going for and for the tuning how low would 40hz go because well I really like low bass however I would like to have some quality to the sound..

also, does anyone have any box plans for 5 @40 looked for this sub, looked in the box plan sticky with no luck //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

try 17x17x30 with a 5 x 11 inch port:up2somet:

i would do 3.5-4.5 tuned to around 32-34hz. 5 cubes at 40 hz is retarded. put any power on it and the sub will probably bottom out like crazy. the smaller th box the less efficient but the better high end extension you will have. i would do like 3.5 at 34 to get the best of both worlds. mine was in 4 cubes at like 34 and didnt play as high as i wanted.
