Type-R is more of a one note wonder-SPLW7-10 is more of Sound Quailty beast

yet its done 150's anywhere in the range of 28hz up to 50hz... still the loudest street beater sub for the $$ out there IMO

You're comparing two completely different speakers here.

The W7 is still one of the best in terms of clean, undistorted output, and still even after 8 years now, it's the one companies try to knock off that pedestal.

IMO there is nothing special about a Type R, it's your typical overhung/long coil design, nothing new or extraordinary. However, it does seem to be an excellent daily driver style, "I want to beat the piss out of it" type speaker, if thats what you're wanting then it's a good choice.

If you want clean, low distortion output, the W7 is still VERY hard to beat, regardless of price.

that's an unusually good deal for w7's. you should buy them immediately. . i think they are comparing new price to new price.

Wanting JL W7's and then wanting the cheapest amp possible is a little contradicting. If you're going to spend the money on some really nice subs, get an amp to match, don't go and cheap out there. If your budget doesn't include a nicer amp, maybe rethink getting those W7's.

That's a pretty idiotic statement. As long as the amp is reliable and outputs the necessary power without audible distortion then there's no reason to spend anymore money than the bare minimum to meet those requirements. If that means finding a good used amp for $100 to power the W7's, then excellent. The amp is a pretty unimportant piece of hardware as long as the minimum necessary requirements are met (reliability & power).

Spend the money where it counts and don't overspend where it doesn't.

the question should be, "how 10" Type-rs compare to Jl 10w7". the answer is they dont.
