just curious..400wrms front stage too much?

its not about the wattage, its how you use it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
Exactly my philosophy...lightbulb power //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

There are plenty of guys over at diyobile audio running over 1k to their front stages...
There are guys here who run over a kilowatt to the front, too. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

your buddy's car sounds like **** //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
Afraid not...sounds great...has a blowthrough with 2 9515's...with 6k on those(not after imp rise;)) Blends nicely !//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I'm sure it does.

To the average high school kid, I am sure that 400 watts RMS to the front stage would be too much since most of them are running head unit power to their factory speakers.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

As for the OP's front stage, that is freaking insane, but if it works, then why question it? To think, I thought I was crazy for running a pair of Lunar L60x2 amps with one bridged to each door in my 1997 Civic Coupe, passive FTL. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Each one of those amplifiers can produce 280 watts RMS! With the gains all the way down, I measured 140 watts RMS per amp into a 4 ohm load at my maximum listening level of 25 with a 1,000 Hz 0db test tone on the Alpine CDA-9885.

lol
i love it when you guys get all riled up. I do indeed run 3 ARC Audio SE4200's bridged on the front stage AND the GAINS are all bottom the fark out. It is all (in my case trying) to eliminate any noise floor and have headroom from hell....it is all about the dynamics. Now realistically, 500wmrs continuous power is probably where it is at 80miles per hour going down the road, but the 1900wrms in reserve sure makes the music seem real.

technically the three amps are rated at a total of 2400wrms on my front stage. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
You lost any and all credibility with me on that statement. Gain is not a measure of coolness on either end of the scale, it's to simply set up gain structure. this is why it's called [gasp] GAIN. it has NOTHING to do with power and EVERYTHING to do with improper gain structure. I have seen SOOOO much blown up **** from people that do this.

"but, but, whadya mean I was clipping something, I had mt GAINS down." No **** Sherlock, you were clipping the piss out of the device before the amp and the amp was eloquently amplifying said clipping, and believe you me, preamp clipping can and will be WAY-HAY uglier than power stage clipping due to the way an op-amp becomes unstable as opposed to discreet devices hitting the edge.

Don't use the position of a variable resistor to gain cool points... ever. the newest stupid ass car audio myth.
