Just bought two batteries, need advice.

You don't need isolators or anything. Put 'em both in the trunk (given your battery up front is still good) and put fuses between it all. You'll be just fine. Hell, I don't have ANY fusing in my car other than from front battery to back battery. If you're not an idiot.. it's simple.

If heard a lot of bad things about paralleling different batteries together... From shortening the life of both batteries, or completely draining them because of differences in resting voltages.. :| now idk lol

yup it can cause bad things.one of my batts in my diesel went bad they only replaced one under warranty then they both went out a month later because of the difference.let me ask this how much power do you have in your system?

oh and if the new batteries are in better condition and rest at a higher voltage the old battery will drain the new ones down. also if you have a well trained battery you dot want any other batteries touching it because it will mess with the voltage

I'm running a single SAZ-1500D at 1ohm, its not much but its in a 95 Buick Lesabre with a stock alt so it needs all the help it can get. With good electrical that 1500D does ~1800rms

The battery under the hood is new, the DataSafe batts are ~2 years old. But rest at a higher voltage than this new wally batt :|

I would run one under the hood and one in back. that would be plenty for 1500 watts but then if you wanted to buy a iso feel free to put both back there.

if you have not already done the "big 3" I would do that I would clean all grounds.

You're mixing up your facts here. The claim is that because the batteries discharge at a different rate that one will effect the other. While this is true, it really won't effect much unless you're letting your car sit without running for weeks at a time. Even then, it's minor. VERY minor, at best. I've had the same Redtop up front for 3+ years & swap out the trunk batteries like you wouldn't believe.

I run different size batts with different resting voltages and never had an issue. I do put mine on a trickle everynite though.. Never hurts
Every night? Jesus. I've trickle charged a whole 5 times ever with the batteries in the car. If they're sitting for any length of time outside the car then I put a tender on them.

Keep in mind that people throw around advice most of the time assuming they're talking to an idiot. The advice giver tends to cover his *** by OVER giving advice. Don't be steered in the wrong direction simply because someone is treating you like a tard. Install the batteries in the trunk, but a fuse between the front battery and rear bank then between the rear bank & amps. You'll be just fine. If you WANT to do an isolator it won't hurt but you definitely don't NEED one.
