You're right, Sundown should have changed the surround and thrown 13 hard spiders on there to help it resist any motion at all and become incredibly inefficient but handle more power. Totally Sundown's fault. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gifnot my fault Sundown recones cant take the heat...
clipped power=blown mooferThe gains are set right and I just clamped it yesterday and the Sub was only getting 1600 watts max... not my fault Sundown recones cant take the heat... Let the flaming begin
Same coil that takes 1500 no sweat in the Nightshade - which is about the same size as an RE MT Dual-0.7 coil.Yes I will be getting a hummer later.... But thats besides the point .. x2... I sent over twice the RMS to my Nigthshade and didn't actually burn up the coil, I just jumped it out the gap //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif:laugh:.You're right, Sundown should have changed the surround and thrown 13 hard spiders on there to help it resist any motion at all and become incredibly inefficient but handle more power. PS: You probably would have still blown the coil.
I want my 10 minutes back.

I ruined a $10,000 car and didn't care...at first...but does that make me more of a man? Not really, just shows I'd be more stupid...I actually regret losing my vehicle even though I got a newer and nicer one. Just because you show off and blow a sub doesn't mean you have money, and even if you do, flashing it the way you do is stupid...all you will attract are gold diggers. You fail at the adult life.Ya she was impressed because I could of cared less that I blew up a $300 sub.. I will just use another one that I have laying around or buy another one... I like to run my shit to the max if it cant take it O WELL!!!!
Power handling is frequency dependent and box dependent. A coil that big can handle a lot of power...if it's cooled properly. The TC9 motor isn't too shabby with cooling the coil, but it's good enough for the intended power application (read: NOT 1600+ watts full-range). Putting it in a box that's too big and throwing too much power at it usually equals results like this thread.x2... Have to throw in some EE here, impedence of an inductor is j*2*pi*f*L, with j=i=imaginary, f being the frequency and L being the inductance, as you can see impedance increases with frequency //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gifPower handling is frequency dependent and box dependent. So when you mix in playing it with too much power, at too low of a frequency, for too long, you get a cooked driver. Not Jake's fault though. That's user error.
Yea I know all this, I was really going to be shocked if the sub didn't go when I was playing with it. Sundown 3kw @ .5 with a solid bass note at 26hz does some damage. The difference is I take all the blame. I don't really care though, the new re-cone will be able to handle it, which in the end it worked out better for me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gifPower handling is frequency dependent and box dependent.
