Just a quick question -- Box for 4 18's...

Gonna try out some of the new MA Audio XE 18's and have a quick question. I'm going to design the box similar to that of Steve Meade as it's going in a 02 Yukon. The only difference is that I'm going to make it where the port is removable, where I'll have 1 port at 30hz and one around 40hz for gettin loud.

On the MA Audio website, the recommended enclosure size is 5 cubes per woofer, so I'm going to make that my goal. I'm going to be shooting for around 20 cubes, and am wondering about the amount of port area needed. I've always used the rule that you need 12-16 sq inches of port per cu ft, so I was thinking 256 sq inches of port area, which would be equal to 16x16 port, which is roughly 12.8 sq inches per cu ft of displacement.

What are your opinions on this design? Sub up/port back is the design in case you don't know. Do you think I should go with the subs and port up? I really don't wanna build a wall. I'm going to have around 2500 rms to the 4 subs.

Tell me what you think! All opinions welcome.

I just realized that with that large of a port, I would need roughly 25.75 inches port length, which would be **** near 4.5 cu ft port displacement! Back to the drawing board!
