Junkyard good place to find batteries?

I have found in the junk yard by me several power wires. They usually are the cars that are all on fire though. Still some how the power is good usually right when it enters the cab of the car.

You spent that much for an alternator and now you want to make it try to charge junk yard batteries? If I spent that much for an alternator I would want to protect it from any chance of being overworked.
