Junkyard good place to find batteries?

I have heard stories of people pulling alternators out of old cars in the junk yards and them being 100% just fine and in working condition and it only cost them 30$....You think I would be able to find some DEKA 9A31's there? Would they be in good condition or is it not even worth the trip?

i doubt you will find a battery like that in a car in a junkyard..more than likely you will be wasting your time.

there are perfect dekas sittin at my local junkyard. and i havnt ever pulled an alt that didnt work....we pay 15 for alts

Hahaha you could possibly find a car with wiring in it still but batts like that? No way. Only thing Ive found worthwhile in a car in a junkyard is...now that Ive gotten this far into the sentence I havent found **** in any car in the junkyard.

most junk yards around here will give you 10 bucks for any car battery, so most likely what ever they do with the batteries has already been done as soon as they got the car, you can walk through a junk yard and see a big pile of radiators, batteries, aluminum wheels, things like that

yes you can..but the odds of finding a good battery is slim, i found a big stinger battery in the wal mart bin one time...so i just traded a lawn mower battery for it, went to school with the guy behind the counter so he let me take it...charged it and sold it to a buddy for 100 bucks

i wouldn't hesitate to buy an alt from a junkyard, just not a battery
