JL W7....help please!

The guy is being kinda flaky. He said $550 today but now says Tuesday. He said he can't send me a pic of the amp b/c his phone broke. But he said he has a buddy with a shop where we can test everything. I guess we'll see what happens.

That guy was dumb as a box of hammers, many lulz were had in that thread.

OP, 550 is a pretty good buy on the package.

Get rid of the RF amp and keep the JL 1000/1. Better configuration and amp.

Just don't let him talk you into buying it w/o testing them first. If something doesn't seem quite right with either one, don't buy. Just don't feel pressured is all.

What head unit are you using? Most have sub controls on them so you wont need a bass knob. My deck has the option of lowering sub level or turning the sub right off.

I'm using a stock headunit mainly b/c I have navigation and don't want to get a new one. I know you can turn the bass down but I have a sub in my other car with a bass knob and it is much more convenient. I think the seller is flaking out on me. He said $550 today and I said DONE, now he's saying earliest he can meet is Tuesday. I'm definitely going to test it. Ahh, if deal falls thru I'll just get a Havoc like I planned. I think he might have realized he can get more money so he wants to wait to see what other offers he gets. I'll keep you all posted. And thanks for posting that eBay link. I'm not sure what model it is but the way he described it, I think its the Slash series. He said it looks brand new but doesn't know anything about the amp when I asked about it other than its JL, silver and has 1000/1 on it. It's also coming out of an Escalade so I would assume he would put top notch stuff in there. If I do buy it, I will use the JL and probably sell the RF. I didn't realize the JL W7 was a single voice coil and that the JL amp has the same power on 1.5 to 4 ohms which makes it pretty versatile.

Ya id keep the 1000/1 and sell that RF too, better controls and does great power. you can run two 12w7s off that amp and they sound great (hence why they rated it down to 1.5 ohms). I ran a 500/1 on my w7 12 for a long time and tried a few bigger amps and went back to the 500/1 multiple times.
