Who cares? nuthuggers like me ofcourse
although it looks just like an anniversary version of the w6v2 there seems to be significant changes
1) a new larger motor structure
-20% larger on the 12"
-26% larger on the 10"
(the 12" is about 26lbs now... the v2 was just under 20lbs
2) linear excursion has increased
-15% more on the 12"
-25% more on the 10"
(new larger surround)
the mounting depth is almost the same as before
rated power handling is still listed as 600rms but i think feel that seems conservative
the obvious drawback is the price...$599 msrp which is the biggest problem
another negative is that they do not recommend a ported enclosure and do not list any vented enclosure specs (they do however recommend a smaller sealed enclosure than the previous gen)
regardless I intend to play with some of these once I can get my hand on them at the right price
The other release is one i have been anticipating even though there is really no point for them to have made this other than to appease the old slash fans (i understand the need for the 600/1v3 and 300/4v3 but when they decided to release this, they should have at least brought it up to 1500 watts considering they already have the hd1200/1)
the only advantages i see are
1) adjustable infrasonic(subsonic) filter vs the HD's 30hrz/off switch
2) adjustable bass eq/boost but who uses bass boost anyway
3) adjustable pass through pre-out
and the biggest one
ITS BLACK.....BLACK IS COOOOOL!!!!!!!!
biggest disadvantage is obviously PRICE....$1200
and the fact they have another amp that does pretty much the same thing in a smaller chassis and lower price (still a rip off but lower price none-the-less)
there you go...let the bashing begin
