JL W6v2

sorry about that i have been busy all day upgrading my wiring system to 4 gauge. i am very very impressed with the subs. i believe they are more of an SPL sub, but i don't really have much to compare to except for my last kenwood tornados, some kicker l7's, some alpine type s, and other subs in that area. The SQ is better then decent in my opinion...and i only have them in a stupid prefab for now because i am building my own box and couldnt wait to hear them so i bought a prefab for now. In the prefab...the SPL is amazing...it beats my friends 2 12" kicker l7's in a durango...and mine are in a buick. that tells you something there. I am not very very satisfied with the SQ but that will be fixed when i build my own sealed enclosure. I got mine from my local shop...I paid $310 for each. They are rated at 400w...but i am sending them 600+ a piece and seem like they could probably take more. I believe these are very very nice subs. If you have any more questions....ask away

Well, that's disappointing to hear they aren't an sq sub, let me know if that changes when you get your box built.

The specs on jl's website say 0.9 - 1.5 so depending on what you want, I think bigger is for spl and smaller is for sq. I'm an sq guy, I would go about 1.0, but go for what you like.

310 is pretty cheap...did u have someone that got you a good deal or something? I've got a buddy that can get me OK deals at my local shop, I'm goin give him a call next week and see how much they will cost. Although, I won't be buying anything for a while; I'm saving every f'n penny I can so I can buy my (realistic) dream car...a 98 gsx eclipse.

yes the guy cut me a deal...he regularly sells them for $369...but I have bought many things from him so he tends to cut me deals. I have heard that it is an SQ sub so i cant wait till i build my box.

According to the formula of

Qtc = Qts * sqrt((Vas/Vb)+1)

a 2.5 cubic foot enclosure after displacement gives a nice qtc of .656

a 1.5 cubic foot enclosure after displacement gives a .764 qtc and, for sq purposes, may be a bit high.

low qtc subwoofer systems tend to sound a bit smoother, natural and tighter and higher qtc systems don't go quite as low and tend to sound "punchy" and at the very extreme, boomy and not low.
