JL W6 repair?

I've got a friend with some old JL W6's that suffered some storage abuse for the last four years. One sub has some dry rot on the surround and is still playable, but needs to be fixed up. The other has too much surround damage and the sub buzzes when played. The cones and spiders seem to be in good shape still.

How should I go about getting these repaired? Can I do it myself?

Is it worth the money?

I'd call JL Audio and see how much a recone would cost...
