Hey I have a JL 10w3 in my single cab Ranger and I love the thing to death, but it is loud inside and not outside and my brother says that is just how JL subs are...how is that? He said it was rear fired ro something? It is siting in a box facing the passenger seat...

Lets analyze this rationally.

Do you think what sub you have really matters how much can be heard outsude the car? Like the magic school buss subwoofer that sound waves travel through the sheet metal?? No, louder outside means you need louder inside. Also you dont want loud outside, you see thats annoying and thats how we get bad names.

A subs firing direction will also have no effect, once again magic sound waves.

to wrap it up, you dont want loud outside, you want to keep everything inside. Well thats at least what most people do. If you really want loud outside loosen somethings up that might rattle.

1) sell the JL

2) rip out all of your carpeting

3) get a couple Pyle subs*

* Remember Pyle makes the perfect subs for someone that just loves to be heard all around town. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

If you like how it sounds in the car then I would not worry about it. If you want it louder outside the car you need bigger subs or more of what you have. One 10 will not be very loud outside the car, when you get around 2 12's or 1 15 then there will be more of a difference.

Yes, JL Audio subwoofers are so technologically advanced that they have perfected the design that allows the subwoofer to control where the sound is disbursed. Through a top secret, patented technology, that design resulted in a subwoofer who's sound waves dissipate and vanish after traveling more than 4 feet.

Never listen to your brother again //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif As was said; it has to do with your vehicle, not the sub.

Oh good, I thought I was the only one to read that article about JL on topsecretaudio.com

Yeah be sure send us all a picture of the Disturbing the peace ticket you get after you figure out how to magically make the music sound better out side of your car than inside, i like the idea of ripping out the carpet and buying some pyle subs, or you could even find the thread where the guy actually mounted the subs in the floor firing towards the ground. Just be happy that it sounds good on the inside

I say strap the box to the top of the car with a couple on bungee cords....along with several 7 inch horn tweeters.......In Dominican Republic you can make good money with a system like that....Advertising all around town..
