JL C1-690 vs Infinity REF9620CX

Hey guys. Totally new to car audio. I'm doing a simple speaker upgrade to my base-stereo (not the JBL) Toyota FJ Cruiser TTUE. I understand that my truck uses a 6x9 component speaker setup, so I thought I'd keep it the same.

Bass and a nice "full" sound are important to me, but I'm not looking to set off car alarms. Not looking to run a sub at this time... I basically just want something a bit more reference than the stock speakers, which are harsh and tinny. Something full and rich. At least for my dollar, ha ha. I also won't be replacing the rear headliner speakers.

My head unit is an Alpine ILX-107, my amp is an Alpine KTP-445U.

I can get either set of speakers for $149, so cost isn't an issue.

Two things...

-From what I understand some Infinity speakers can be pretty bright or harsh?

-The Infinity (at least on Crutchfield) is $249 while the JL is $149 (Amazon has the Infi's at $149). Are the REF9620CX's a level up from the C1-690s? Is this a fair comparison?
