There is a huge difference between a jx and a slash. The jx is a basic amp. The slash has advanced crossovers, does rated 1.5-4ohm so rise does not matter, and does rated 12.5-14.4v. It's also very very power hungry which is to be expected. There is no such thing as a 400/4 slash amp. Op you are clipping that amp and your box is extreamly to small. If that sub blows its your fault alone. Your electrical should be fine so the dimming also says you are clipping it. For that power at 2ohm the price is a bit high for what you get.

4cube is not the correct size box for an 18! A 15 or possibly even 12 would be better. I had to keep reading when I saw 18 and trunk in the same paragraph ..

It is 4.5 within specs. Sounds fine. Hits all notes with authority. Takes up my whole trunk. It may be bigger than 4.5.

About to add a Rockford 360.2 may have some sub sonic capabilities hopefully.

Happy with system I was concerned if the JX was going to be good. I am pretty satisfied with it. Slash Amps are awesome!

You know you can adjust the output to whatever you need it to be up until full power? You dont need to step down

I would love to find 2 12s louder than this for under 200 bucks total. On some sogns I will drown the whole system out. I am running some pretty good mids and highs too

A little advice. If that sub is drowning out your frontstage then something is not tuned or installed right. I'm starting to think you are smelling coil from clipping.

Don't you get clipping from too much signal? Im not sure. It drowns out if I don't turn the bass knob down. I am using my factory system. I smelled coils when I first got the sub and playing it loud as hell on Jeezy records. I have not turned it up ridiculously much sense then. Trying to break in sub i guess. Sub is connected to fader as a bass knob. What i guess i mean is I CAN drown out my mids and highs if put to much bass to it. if I were to put a bass mechanic song on it will drown out the car. You'll just hear some crunching sounds of a tweeter coming from somewhere and my back breaking and can't see and drink spilling in cup holder. I need a line driver. Hopefully the 360 will help. I need some sub-sonic filtering i dont think the jx has one. Didnt think hair tricks were possible with 1 18 and such little power. Only on bass mechanic though.

yeah right! I am exaggerating. lol It does do hair tricks on bass mechanic though. It is a 2012 mazda 3. The doors, floor, trunk and headliner is dampened 1 bulk pack of Hush Mat and two cans of foam. Car is very solid sounding. Maybe that's why it so loud. Great installer and box builder

Well i guess i have to get it metered. If I am standing by the window my shirt is blowing. So I guess it is not a hairtrick. her hair is blowing insanely. makes sense now. hair tricks comes from frequency vibrations or something? So I guess I am moving a lot of air instead.

I am sure you are correct. I would have loived to have a hatch back with a larger box tuned properly. But he did a really good job. He makes the impossible possible. I interchange boxxes out of car maybe Ill try a 15 next. Maybe a IDQ or PSI
