Yep, ring goes around then larger ring snaps onto the basket.

1. Ya that ring mount system is a hassle but it means more Sd and cone stability.

2. I actually kinda like the way it looks without the dustcap lol. its unique.

3. a 900 watt amp is not too much for that sub. 900 watts is too much to feed the sub continuously, but i doubt you will be doing that. set your gains right and that amp will be good for the W7.

4. .7 is too small for that sub, don't forget the sub displaces .1 cube allready... going with a smaller box is going to make the sub sound better but don't go smaller than 1 cube. JL recommends 1.25 cubes sealed. I don't even know how you would fit the sub in .7 cubes lol

5. idiots stfu. if you know how to use it, w7>w6 in volume and sound quality hands down

no offense but i beg to differ.... W6 beast W7 in SQ.... SPL definantly not. W7's sound good, but the W6 sounds better. the W7 was designed for high power, high SPL situations, W6 was made for high-ish power situations and SQ.

Matt

PS, everything else i agree with.

You are completely entiled to your opinion and i respect it, the reason i disagree is:

1: The W7 has the reputation of a wonder woofer. (something that sounds amazing in your car no matter how much of a fvckup you are at installation. Truth is the rule that systems are 90% installation still applies.

2: Just because the W7 has the ability to spank monkey nuts in output doesn't mean it was designed to operate at that level.

3: 60% of W7 sytems i've heard were under-powered, 20% were over-powered, and most of the ones that were correctly powered were in a pre-fab or equally idiotic enclosure.

4: I've heard W7 setups that would make you jizz your pants in SQ. especially 10's. JL's line of home theater subs are actually basically slightly modified W7's and have won countless SQ awards

touche' however, hear a 10W7 in the right enclosure VS a 10W6 in the right enclosure with amps matching their needs and the W6 will sound better. W6 was designed for SQ period. if you wish to discuss this further, PM me. i dont want to clog up this thread with us discussing this topic, even tho it is slightly on topic.
