Jl audio subs and amp question

i have a friend who has 2 12 Jl audio w6's the old version, they are dual 6 ohms, and my question is, i have a ma audio hk897 amp i was going to sell him and here are the specs

3ohm stereo is prolly the best bet... maybe 400W each.

You could try 3 ohm mono and see if the amp minds it... after imp rise the final load should be around 4ohms so it may be okay... if not, then 3 ohm stereo is still a good option.
