JL Audio HD900/5 - Comments?

Does anyone have any experience with the JL Audio HD 900/5 amp? I'm looking to replace my Alpine PDX 4.100 and PDX 1.600 amps with this single amp as I used to own JL Audio amps exclusively. However, at the time, with my new truck, I couldn't find any JL Audio amps that would fit. The HD series from JL Audio is the same footprint as the Alpine PDX series, is Class D and is stackable, so I am very interested. Plus, going from 2 amps to 1 is nice too!

If anyone has any experience with this amp, let me know.

Thanks!

im pretty sure its badass. only problem is that it will cost you.
Yeah, from an authorized dealer it is about $1K, which is pricey, but if it is as good as I think it should be it may be worth it. Plus, I'll have 2 Alpine PDX amps to sell so I'll be able to recoup some of the cost. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If there is someone out there who has actual experience with this amp, please do opine!

diyma.com and search
Either I'm a bad searcher or there is nothing about this particular amp on that site. I didn't want to register so I simply entered a number of different keywords and came up with bupkus. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Although I haven't tried the 900/5 myself, I am still thinking about getting one to go with a single amp setup in my Mustang.

A couple of years ago I tried a PDX-5 that a friend of mine owned, and I did not like it. Truthfully, I didn't like the sound of ANY of the PDX full-range amplifiers or the fact that they were excessively noisy and this was noticeable while driving.

Interesting...I must admit I am not too happy with the PDX series either...they don't seem to be as clean sounding as my old JL Audio amps and I hate the fact that the PDX 1.600 has no remote to fine tune the bass song to song...I miss that a lot!

Once I performed the Big 3 and added a second battery, any noises I may have had (slight alt whine) went away.

I have not used the 900/5 but I have used the Jl hd 600/4 and the 750/1 and they are both awesome amps. I think you would be very happy with the 900/5. It is the amp I would choose if I had different subs (boston spg555's)

Yeah, I'm thinkin' of goin' with the same as you have, the 600/4 and the 750/1...they're a little more max wattage than my speakers would handle at full tilt, but as some have said, as long as the gains are set properly, having a little extra power for future upgrades is not a bad thing!
