JL Audio ?? Four 8" W3s or Two 10" W6

I think I might try 2 of the DD1500 10" ...........How do they compare to a 10" IDQ?
Good luck with that! For sound quality subs, I would take the Dayton HO 10s over either of those.

Then again, if you want to have it super loud in the 40 to 80 Hz range, the DD subs are your speakers! Just don't expect to feel anything in the 20 Hz range and prepare to be disappointed if you listen to anything other than metal or rap.

Also since you are mentioning weight, those DD1510s are going to require 1.5 cubic feet NET per sub with a lot of port area. You will probably be real close to 5 cubic feet gross by the time port and subwoofer displacement is taken into consideration.

I totally understand there is better stuff out there especially for the $$ than JL Audio.
You do understand that you are taking advice from a forum full of individuals in their almighty quest to hit 150 decibels on a termlab, don't you? While there are better sounding subwoofers than JL Audio w6v2 and w7 series, you really don't save that much money! I hate to say it, but you pay for quality, especially if you want something to play perfectly flat in the 20 to 80 Hz range while taking your vehicle's transfer function into consideration.

OTOH, if you are only interested in being LOUD from 35 to 80 Hz, without regards for a flat frequency response, there are better and cheaper alternatives than JL Audio to achieve these goals.

Weight is an issue and the HD JL amps are small.........I have the HD600 on my 3way Dynaudios and sound pretty clean.
Since you are concerned about weight, have you considered a pair of 15" subwoofers mounted IB such as the AE IB 15 or a pair of Fi IB 12s? Then again, I don't know the details of your vehicle, so this may not be feasible.

I can get the 10" for about $210 each.........I get close to cost on theses.
The MAIN issue is weight and the 10" W6 are a little under 15lb each. Most other woofers that are comparable are a lot heavier.

Thanks!
Hey do you think you could pass the deal along and get me 2 10" w6's for cost as well????

Your right, after looking more into the DD1500 the box requirements just won't do it.

I'm going to get the 10" Daytons and go from there........as for the amp I'm going to stick with the JLs

I appreciate everyones input as I have not been in the car audio stuff for about 10 years now.

Only problem is that Parts Express is out of stock: Dayton RSS265HO-4 10" Reference HO Subwoofer 4 Ohm | subwoofer rss265h0-4 10" subwoofer dayton reference rs sub dayton loudspeaker reference-22008 | Parts-Express.com

Now for the good news... I heard a pair those Dayton subs each in .75 cubic feet net tuned to 32 Hz and they were quite impressive! Of course, they won't break any SPL records, but that is the tradeoff you pay for something that sounds good in very little air space! The other way to think of it is you can squeeze TWO 10s into the same amount of airspace that ONE DD1510 would take up.

I wonder how they would do in a sealed enclosure with about .5 cubic feet?
