I have been fortunate enough to spend a lot of time as a professional installer and have played around with many different subwoofers and I must say that the 8W7 really has impressed me. These bad-*** little subs really pack a punch. If they don't sell I may use one as a dash-mounted dedicated mid bass driver.

What box specs do they do best in?

I've tried two subs with 2cubes sealed...didn't really care for the sound. Tried a single sub ported with 1.5cubes @28hz sub sounded really loose and sloppy. Then I built a box close to JL's specs; 1cube @32hz and used a subsonic filter @30hz 12db slope(not 24db) and I couldn't be happier.
