last week i heard three JL 6" W0 subs. they sounded awesome, the guy at the shop put almost 900 watts to them and it blew away this dudes two twelves. does anyone out there have them? i have heard that they are fragile. i could hear the voice coils start to heat up after about 5 minutes. what do you guys think?

I'm sorry, but I have a really hard time believing that three 6W0's could survive 900W. I mean, I know you can push W0's way past their rated limits, but that is just a bit hard to believe. Maybe they could last a few minutes, but not much more.

They are technically subs, but I would imagine most people use them as mid-bass drivers. Of course, you typically have to special order them from a shop, because almost nobody stocks them. They're even hard to find on eBay.

I have had experience with them, i used to have 2 in my bmw m3 in around .3 cuft each and had 150 watts on them and they sounded great for what they are. I am not goign to say they will out pound 12's but in the right box they sound pretty amazing for such a little woofer. I amazed a few people with them. If you have $60 its not a bad buy for a smaller car.
