JL Audio 500/5 HELP?

I just bought a JL 500/5 off from craigslist and i hooked it up this afternoon. When it powered up the low impedence light came on and never shut off even when there were no speakers wired to the amp. I had trouble with a couple of the channels putting out power. Is this the problem? is it an easy fix? thanks!

check what loads the amp is seeing from the speakers

I paid 200 but the guy is cool about it and he is refunding me (I.E. dont make transactions at your house!) It says low impedence prior to any speaker wires even being connected!
